Introduction à la classe

Les textes :

You will need ­the following textbook : J. Siskin, Ann Williams-Gascon & Thomas Field. Débuts : An Introduction to French. New York, NY : McGraw Hill, second edition.

You will also need the exercise books that accompany the textbook.

We will read some short stories later on in the school year in order to practice reading comprehension and acquire more vocabulary.

I expect to cover the entire textbook this school year, and also add a few more tenses. By the end of this year, students should be able to conjugate verbs in all major tenses, including the subjunctive.

The manual Débuts has a very strong video and aural component, which we will rely on. Each chapter starts with a segment of the video and builds itself on it.

Your grade Ywill be divided as follows :

- Petits contrôles : 20 %

- Participation + labo : 30%

- Homework : 10%

- Tests : 40%

You should ALWAYS come to class prepared and ready to speak!

For homework, students will have to go to the class blog. I will not give them hard copies of their weekly assignments.

In case of inclement weather, always refer to the blog for updates!
